NRA Courses

NRA Home Firearm Safety

HFS is a 5-hour basic introduction & general overview of the variety of firearms that exist. Its purpose is to teach students the basic knowledge, skills, & attitude necessary for the safe handling of firearms & ammunition in the home.

HFS covers NRA organization, safety rules & procedures, firearm components, loading & unloading, malfunctions, cartridge components, firearms maintenance, responsible ownership, child/family safety, proper storage of firearms & ammunition, range rules & regulations, and MA laws regulating firearms.

Firearms included in this training are revolvers, semi-automatic pistols, break/pump/semi action shotguns, & bolt/lever/semi/bullpup action rifles. Caliber sizes range from 9mm – 5.56.
This course provides certificates to apply for LTC/FIDC.

Course includes instructor-provided firearms, eye & ear protection, targets, and live fire at the range.

NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting

BPS is an 8-hour course focused only on single/double-action revolvers & semi-automatic pistols. It covers in detail, reasons to own different types of handguns, parts & operations, disassembly & reassembly, pistol cleaning, fundamentals of pistol shooting (sight alignment, sight picture, breath control, hold control, trigger control/reset, follow through), shooting one hand, scoring targets, shooting techniques & positions, stoppages & malfunctions (failure to feed, double feed, stovepipe), and competitive shooting programs. Caliber sizes include 9mm and .38 Special

Course includes instructor-provided firearms, eye & ear protection, targets, and live fire at the range.

Prerequisites – Any firearm safety course AND Handgun shooting experience

NRA Personal Protection In The Home

PPITH is an 8-hour course for experienced shooters who have mastered basic firearm safety rules & pistol handling skills. The course teaches the safe & efficient use of handguns in the protection of self/family and provides legal information on citizens’ rights to self-defense (stand your ground & duty to retreat).

PPITH discusses responsible & ethical use of deadly force when facing imminent life-threatening situations, mental/emotional preparation & self-awareness, training for stress & realistic physical encounters, never give up mindset, cover & concealment, responding to & confronting a violent intruder/assailant, emotional/legal aftermath, strategies for home safety, defensive shooting skills & accuracy, psychological reactions (fight, flight, freeze, posture, submit), physiological reactions (loss of fine motor skills, tunnel vision, auditory exclusion, time dilation, adrenaline rush). Students shoot 100 rounds.

Course includes instructor-provided firearms, eye & ear protection, targets, and live fire at the range.

NRA Basic Rifle Shooting

BRS is an 8-hour in-depth introduction to rifles that covers in detail safety practices, different types of rifles & reasons to own each, rifle components & operations, loading & unloading, malfunctions & stoppages, cartridge components, assembly & disassembly, rifle maintenance, fundamentals of rifle shooting (sight alignment, sight picture, breath control, hold control, trigger control & reset, follow through), various shooting techniques & positions, optics, grouping & zeroing your shots, and adjusting sights.

Rifles included in this training session are bolt action, lever-action, semi-automatic, and bullpup action. Caliber sizes range from 5.56
This course provides certificates to apply for FIDC.

Course includes instructor-provided firearms, eye & ear protection, targets, and live fire at the range.

NRA Basic Shotgun Shooting

BSS is a 10-hour comprehensive overview of the variety of shotguns that exist, teaching the knowledge, skills, & attitude necessary for the safe & proper use of shotguns.

Students learn rules & procedures for safe gun handling, shotgun parts & operations, loading & unloading, stoppages & malfunctions, assembly & disassembly, shotshell components, shot size (birdshot, buckshot, slug), gauge & length, gun cleaning, shooting fundamentals (stance, form, hold point, mount, see target, swing, pull the trigger, follow through), choke tubes (full, modified, improved cylinder), shot patterns, patterning a shotgun, range rules & layouts, range commands, trap & skeet course of fire, shooting moving/straight away/angled targets.

Shotguns included in this training are hinge/break, pump, & semi-automatic action.
This course provides certificates to apply for FIDC.

Private Instruction

Intro Semi-Automatic Pistol Shooting

ISAPS is a 2-hour private lesson for those new to shooting, or have already gotten certified and need additional practice to improve their comfort level and skills. ISAPS covers the basics of pistol shooting and consists of a 9mm caliber semi-automatic pistol, 50 rounds of ammunition, eye & ear protection, and targets.

ISAPS is great for beginners, fun with family/friends/coworkers, special occasions, date nights, corporate events, team building, surprises/gifts, bachelor/ette parties.
$80/hr

Basic Semi-Automatic Pistol Shooting (9mm)

BSAPS is a 2-hour private lesson for new shooters needing to establish proficiency, accuracy, competency, and looking to purchase their first firearm for self-defense. Students experience various makes and models to figure out their preferences and establish a good fit. BSAPS focuses on the 5 fundamentals of pistol shooting and consists of two 9mm semi-automatic pistols, 50 rounds of ammunition, eye & ear protection, and targets.

BSAPS is great for novice shooters, fun with family/friends/coworkers, special occasions, date nights, corporate events, team building, surprises/gifts, bachelor/ette parties.

Prerequisites – Intro Semi-Automatic Pistol Shooting (ISAPS) or Equivalent Training

Utah Concealed Firearms Permit

The UCFP is a 8-hour course and is recognized nationwide, and the Utah License has reciprocity in 31 different states! This will allow you to carry in most states across the country.
